Prepared Hero Fire Spray Recall: What Happened to the “Never Expires” Claim?

  There’s something slightly ironic about a fire-safety product being recalled because its canister can rupture. But that’s not actually the part of the Prepared Hero Fire Spray recall that caught my attention. It was this: “The Hero Fire Spray doesn’t expire.” That claim appears on Prepared Hero’s product page under a section titled “Ready To Work Any And Every Time.” Then, on September 10, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of about 31,000 Hero Fire Spray canisters because the canister can deteriorate over time, potentially rupture in storage, and fail to operate during a fire. A recall doesn’t automatically mean every Hero Fire Spray is defective. But it does create a pretty obvious question: How does a product advertised as something that “doesn’t expire” end up being recalled because part of it can deteriorate over time?
